THE TRILOGY OF THE DERBIN SHIRT

Every collection starts with a symbol.
For AW26 the symbol emerged from the Pyrenees and runs through AW26 Sombra de la Sierra. We developed three in-house designs for the Exclusive Derbin Shirts:
Blue Coins, Light Vase Theory and Black Swords.
Each pattern was developed in-house and made by patient hands.

DERBIN SHIRT BLUE COINS

The inspiration is drawn from the ancient currencies that once circulated through the Spanish Pyrenees. Born from regional Roman gold extraction and the rich alluvial deposits of rivers like the Segre and the mountain area Les Guilleries d'All, these coins passed through Iberian tribes, Mediterranean mints, and mountain trading routes. Like the coins, the shirt carries stories across time, reminding us that history lives in the patterns we preserve and the objects we choose to carry forward.

Carefully printed by hand on lightweight Italian silk with a soft, fluid drape, the shirt features an in-house reinterpretation of coins to be carried forward.

The Light Vase Theory explores how a form holds space and illuminates its surroundings. Drawing on traditional Spanish silhouettes, the design allows for a delicate interplay of transparency and opacity, proving that utility and beauty are one. It is a modern contemplation of an age-old craft. Made from a heavy cotton fabric featuring the artwork, which fabric was woven by our partner mills in Germany.

BLACK SWORDS

PART 3
DERBIN SHIRT BLACK SWORDS

The inspiration was found within the pages of Miguel de Cervantes' 1605 first novel, Don Quixote tells the story of Alonso Quixano, a minor Spanish noble so consumed by chivalric romances that he reinvents himself as the knight Don Quixote. Together with his squire Sancho Panza, he rides across Spain, transforming windmills into giants and inns into castles in a fevered pursuit of adventure.
Forged from this spirit of chivalry, the Black Sword is a symbol of Quixote's quest, a romantic pursuit of adventure across changing landscapes. Its steel represents the blurring line between reality and imagination. Designed in our studio, as a soft black cotton flannel and embroidered with the sword artwork in Italy.
